Vermont licensure history

In 2002, the Vermont Legislature passed the first ever legislation, which required ALL speech language pathologists and audiologists in the State of Vermont to obtain licensure regardless of employment setting.

2-license history

In 2016, VSHA was involved in a legislative tug-of-war between the OPR and AOE to determine which organization would have control over licensing. Throughout the ordeal, VSHA fought for school-based SLPs so that they would only be required to obtain one license. VSHA lost.

SLPA Task Force history

In July 2013, the Vermont Speech-Language Hearing Association (VSHA) submitted an Application for Preliminary Review on Speech-Language Pathology Assistants to the Vermont Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) proposing to regulate Speech Language Pathologist’s Assistants in Vermont.
